Submitting Your Articles To Article Directories

Now is the time to start refining your writing skills. No, this
is not like back in high school where an English teacher hovered overhead. You don't have to pump out masterpieces. It's really about conveying ideas (ideally without typos!).

Writing articles is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers.

Articles help improve your search engine position. Search engines love new and changing content. Additionally, every time you list an article you get a link back to your site.
Search engines reward sites that have many links to their
site (of course, they should be from related sites).

Ezine publishers comb the article directories looking for articles to put in their ezines. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your traffic overnight. So, be sure to write the articles that publishers want to put in their publications. Hint: They aren't looking
for advertisements. You'll have to pay for that!

There are many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles easy. But, that's for another time.

Let us take a look at the common mistakes that people
make before submitting to article directories:

1. Not focusing on informing and entertaining the audience.

Don't write a sales pitch. Instead of trying to persuade the audience, put them into a state of mind that is induced when they're entertained and/or informed.

Be sure to think that you are writing to one person, not a mass of people.

2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of
article marketing.

Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them.

Some people try to attach "anchor text" to their
links. But, the majority of the directories do not support this.

3. Not proofreading the article.

After you write the article, proofread it. Then sleep on it. The next day proofread one last time.

Don't forget to do a spell check! In fact, I just did one. I noticed that I had written "spellcheck" as one word. The software told me to break it up into two words.

It wouldn't hurt to look for more interesting words as substitutes. Use a thesaurus. Try to inject at least one word that is rarely used, like "shimmering". In fact, why not come up with a list of rarely used words and have it handy.

4. Not following the article directory's guidelines.

The fact is that not all article directories are going to accept your content automatically. They have some guidelines and specifications for articles and you'll need to follow them. Be sure to take a moment and look them over. Fortunately, most of the article directories have similar guidelines.

Writing an article seems imposing. But, stop thinking of as attempt to match the articles you see in magazines. Think instead of articles of around 500 words, about 1 page.

When you write the article, be sure to post it in article directories. This strategy takes very little time, costs
nothing, and is a stellar traffic generator. Now, for the best tip of all: Get started now!
